Paediatrics is a branch of medicine that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of all types of health problems that affect young patients – from infants and children to adolescents.
Speech pathology is a profession concerned with helping people to communicate. Speech pathology encompasses all areas of communication including speech, language, signs, symbols and gestures, reading and writing. Speech pathologists are professionals who are trained to assess, diagnose and treat people who have difficulties with communication and/or swallowing and feeding.
Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation. Paediatric occupational therapists help children develop skills in the areas of self-care, school and play. Paediatric occupational therapists indirectly work on developing confidence, self esteem, social skills and general well being.
