be™ was founded with a strong commitment to supporting and empowering the community, as well as establishing a network of trusted clinicians who collaborate to provide exceptional service and care.
Our Story
be™ is a family owned business which was founded in 2023 by Liz Garcia, a passionate Speech Pathologist and DIRFloortime® practitioner, assisted by her husband, Jason.
be™ is a venture that has stemmed from Liz and Jason’s successful allied health practice – Beyond Words Therapy Centre, which serviced the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with clinics in Maleny and Beerwah.
be™ focusses specifically on working with children and families through a Social-Emotional Developmental Relationship-Based approach.
Our Approach
We employ a customised, evidence-based, developmental approach that prioritises the unique needs of each child.
Our methodology is anchored on the DIRFloortime® approach and the Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA) Best Practice Guidelines. We create sensory-motor, play and language-rich environments to foster regulation, connection, listening, interaction and communication among children, their families, and others.
What we stand for
We have a passion for providing family-centred practice that is meaningful, authentic and fun. We prioritise supporting the emotional, sensory, and communicative needs of each child and we nurture therapeutic relationships to promote overall wellness and improve quality of life.
We’re dedicated to staying informed and actively involved in the neurodiversity movement and we prioritise the experiences of neurodivergent individuals. We continuously seek to deepen our understanding of the specific needs of our families and we continually reflect and adapt our practice to better support our families.
We recognise the intersectionality of the human rights movement and the systemic barriers and trauma faced by the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities within the disability space. Our culturally sensitive and gender-affirming therapy approach advocates for transgender rights and respects the diverse identities of our clients.
